The incomparable, unforgettable, Seabiscuit 1933-1947

I could not have opened a Drawings & Sketchings Gallery with out the inclusion of this little guy!  The legendary racehorse, Seabiscuit, who captured the hearts and lifted the souls of millions of Americans during the depression, he arrived just when the Americans needed him most, and they took him to their hearts.

I am totally in love and intrigued with the story that is Seabiscuit, so expect to see a lot more of him on my site!  I love to try to catch his spirit, and I hope I have managed to do that here.

A3 cartridge paper / pencil sketch

I dedicate this sketch of Seabiscuit to the memory of my truly wonderful father, who fought such a brave dignified battle to stay with us, but with much sadness, he lost his fight.  Dad, like Seabiscuit, you were a fighter, and your family are so proud of what you tried to do for us, and I am so proud to be the daughter of such a wonderful man. You'll never be forgotten Daddy, you left us with too many beautiful memories, and a legacy of friends the world over.  Rest In Peace now my brave Dad, we love and adore you.  Your heartbroken daughter Natalie & your family.  xxx

The smile

A very quick reference profile sketch, which I intend to create with more detail on a larger scale.  Some more work needs doing to perfect this, but that will be done on the larger, finished piece.

Lost in thought

Another quick reference sketch of a young girl.  Notice the passive, relaxed expression on her face, this is because none of the facial muscles are being used.
