Depicted herein is the Old Ruins of St Hildas Abbey, Whitby, North Yorkshire, England.  I am enchanted by this place, and have painted quite a few scenes of the Abbey and also of the town itself.

I painted this particular painting as a gift for a gentleman who stayed at the famous Petwood Hotel during World War II.  This beautiful hotel, based in Woodhall Spa, Lincolnshire, England, was home to the world renowned 617 "Dambuster" Squadron, and having stayed there many times myself, it gave me such joy to paint this beautiful building as a present for such a wonderful gentleman.  I only hope I have done justice to the wonderful building and beautifully maintained grounds!

The painting is on 28 x 24 " Canvas Board, it can be framed, although it looks perfectly fine unframed because of the media used.

Painted on exhibition gallery wrapped canvas, and measuring 20x16x1.5" (51x41x4cm), this painting depicts the legendary american racehorse "Seabiscuit".

As you may be able to see, the sides have been painted with heavy bodied paints, using a palette knife in places, creating a very sculptured effect.  Colours used - mainly Browns, Old Gold (ragrolled), Creams, and White
